In all my years playing golf I have seen a lot of styles and let’s be honest a lot of mistakes made on the course!

In Golf, some mistakes are more common than others and they can have a big impact on your score. Golf is a challenging sport and even the best players in the world make mistakes.

We’ll discover some of the worst mistakes a golfer can make on the course so you can avoid making them during your next game!

Not taking enough club

When you don’t take enough club, you’re more likely to hit the ball short of the green, which means you’ll have to chip or pitch it up to the hole. This is a classic mistake that many golfers make and it can cost you a lot of strokes. This can be a very difficult shot and it’s often difficult to get up and down from close range.

Not aiming properly

It's important to take the time to aim properly before you hit each shot. When you don't aim correctly, you're more likely to miss the green or hit the ball into trouble. This is another common mistake. You should consider the wind, the slope of the ground, and the distance to the hole in order to get that perfect shot.

Not following through

A full follow-through is essential for a good golf swing. Make sure to follow through with your swing every time you hit the ball. When you don't, you're not transferring your energy into the ball, which means you'll lose distance and accuracy.

Getting too frustrated

It's easy to get angry when you're playing golf, especially if you're making a lot of mistakes. However, getting angry will only make you play worse. If you start to get angry, take a deep breath and try to relax. Remember, it's just a game.

Not taking breaks

It's important to take breaks when you're playing golf, especially if you're playing a long round. Taking breaks will help you stay hydrated, refreshed, and focused.

Not listening to your caddie

If you have a caddie, it's important to listen to what they have to say. Caddies have a lot of experience and knowledge, and they can help you make better decisions on the course.

Not having the right equipment

Having the right equipment is important for playing good golf. Make sure your clubs are the right size and weight for you, and that your balls are the right type for the course conditions.

Not being prepared

It's important to be prepared before you tee off. This means knowing the course, knowing the weather, and knowing your own game. If you're not prepared, you're more likely to make mistakes.

A good warm-up should include some light cardio, dynamic stretches, and some practice swings. It's important to warm up before you play golf. This will help to prevent injuries and improve your performance.

Not using the correct grip

The grip is one of the most important aspects of the golf swing. If you don't have a good grip, you're not going to be able to hit the ball consistently. There are many different grips, so it's important to experiment until you find one that feels comfortable and allows you to hit the ball well.

Not trusting your swing

It's important to trust your swing when you're playing golf. If you start to doubt yourself, you're more likely to make mistakes. Just relax and let your swing take over.

Not having fun

If you're not having fun, you're not going to play your best. So, relax, enjoy the game, and don't take it too seriously. Golf is a game that should be enjoyed.

These are just a few of the most common mistakes that golfers make. By avoiding these mistakes, you can improve your game and lower your score.
